That last was addressed to akerbeltz, but thank you, GunChleoc, I rather like that way of looking at things. I have also come to the conclusion that for some reason rattling off declensions is just not working, despite my having learned Greek and Latin that way!

Yes, rattling off declensions will not be very fruitful here. You'll have to learn horizontally rather than vertically

You will find with An Cùrsa Inntrigidh that you have to assumed the same rules apply for ann/anns, ri/ris, le/leis, etc., explained in earlier sections. I think that is why any further explanation for le/leis is omitted. Your tutor ought to have hinted at in when reading out the explanations.
