An dearbh ceist a th' agam-sa. 'S ann a tha mi a' faireachdainn gu bheil mi taobh a-muigh san dorchadas a' coimhead a-steach tron uinneag air a' chùirm a tha a' tachairt taobh a-staigh.
Agus 's e mar sin a mhaireas e o chionn 's nach eil cead air daoine taobh a-muigh a' Bhreatainn coimhead air iPlayer nas motha, prògraman 'sa Ghàidhlig ann no às :(

Bu chòir dhaibh rudeigin a chur air gnìomh co-dhiù, gu h-airidh air sgàth 's nach eil Sky air a h-uile duine.

Uill, tha dòigh ann faighinn troimhe co-dhiù. O chionn dà neo trì bliadhnaichean, fhuair mise cnap de bhideoghan Gàidhlig a chaidh a clàradh bhon telebhisean ann an Älba. Saoilidh mi gum biodh furasta gu leòr a dheanamh a-rithist. An aon duighleadas 's e gum feumaidh eadar-theangeachadh a bhith ann airson a stuth a rachadh do na Stàitean Aonaichte (bho PAL gu NTSC).

Today I saw a couple of video streaming links on the BBC Alba website, so I clicked on them only to have my hopes crushed by the following message:

Not Available in your area.

So I found a link where you could leave a comment and left the following message:

I just tried to access two of the video streams for the BBC Alba Gaelic digital channel and I got the message, Not Available in your area.

This is crazy. Why, after all the money that is being spent to make this new service possible is access being restricted?

If you've made it available on the web, there is no reason this should not be available to the entire world.

Í am sure there is some reason that makes sense to a bureaucrat, but in the larger scheme of things this should not be and someone should fix it.

Thank you

This is the message at the moment about the i-player:

http://iplayerhelp.external.bbc.co.uk/h ... mes/celtic

- probably by end of 2008.

Graisg, the pesky licencing agreements are UK-related, so Ireland wouldn't get it if UK-only, as is the case with all of these restricted reception broadcasts (incl. non-BBC radio in some cases).

ok ceart gu leor leis an iplayer

Couldn't the beeb just put it out like 'TG4 beò' until then?

http://www.tg4.ie/

Doesn't BBC Alba have a requirement to help learners? It might help learners outside the UK (chan eil gainnead dhiubh) if they were able to see the programmes. But then again most folk in the UK can't see BBC Alba anyway whether they be learners, native speakers or simply folk that write nasty letters about Gaelic to the Inverness Courier and other papers (they need to keep up to date with Saoghal na Gàidhlig too!).

The thing is the lack of Broadcasting on Freeview surely makes internet programmes even more essential? If a few individuals can put recordings of BBC Alba up on Utube hours after the event then surely the professionals can do something likewise to keep up with the amateurs doing it in their spare time?

It is only available in the UK, iPlayer, as we are the ones that pay for it. BBC Alba is available in Europe too on Satellite as it is free to air.

Bha mise aig an 'launch' Oidhche Haoine agus chòrd e rium glan....thuirt oileanach sa chlas oidhche agam gum faca mi i air an tbh!! :D Bha mi aig an rud ann an Dùn Èideann, chan e Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, ach chunnaic mi pìosan den chèilidh às dèidh làimh.
Ach tha mi air glè bheag fhaicinn bhon uair sin. Ged a tha tbh sa flat agam agus Virgin Media (cable) chan fhaigh mi an t-seirbheis ùr is tha sin gam fhàgail fiadhaich. Cuideachd chan eil e math nach eil e furasta do dhaoine thall tharais an t-seiribeis fhaighinn nas motha. Chur mi post-d gu MG Alba le ceist mu dheidhinn àireamh sianal air Virgin Media agus iPlayer ach cha d' fhuair mi freagairt fhathast. Fònaidh mi a-rithist a-màireach.

I was at the launch on Friday night and I thoroughly enjoyed it....a student in my evening class said she saw me on the TV!! :D I was at the event in Edinburgh as opposed to Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, but I saw some pieces of the cèilidh afterwards.
But I have seen very little since then. Although there is a TV in my flat and Virgin Media (cable) I don't receive the new service and that makes me angry. Its also not ideal that its not easy for people abroad to get the service either. I sent an email to MG Alba with a question about a channel number on Virgin Media and iPlayer but I haven't got an answer yet. I'll phone again tomorrow.

Uill, chuir mi fón gu Virgin, agus cha robh càil fhios aig an té mu a dheidhinn.

So I decided to cancel my telly. So they told me that they have free telly now. And I've just checked the channel list and it appears to be the whole freeview, including Tele-G, which I didn't have on the package that I thought was the basic one.

"Mi-thoilichte" disnae cover it.

Edit:
But now my box is updated and there's no sign of Tele-G

Tha prògram ri fhaighinn air an iPlayer a-nis, chunnaic mi Seasaidh Leacsaidh an t-seachdain seo chaidh agus tha cuirm-ciùil ann an-diugh;

There is a programme available on the iPlayer now, I saw Shessy Lexy last week and there is a concert there today.

Smaonich mi air rudeigin a-raoir.

Gach turas a bha mi ag an SMO airson cùrsa goirid, cha robh "reception" Freeview ann (airson Tele-G) agus cha roch "satellite dish" ann nas motha.

A bheil fhathast? Tha mi an dòchas gum bi BBC Alba ri fhaighinn ann... bha a' chiad oidhche bhon a shiud!!!!
