Gabhaibh mo leisgeul nach do chuir mi Beurla air na sgriobh mi: Pardon me that I neglected to give the English.
31° yesterday in Seattle, but around 15° this morning at 5am. They say it won't be so hot today.

Wondering if the word "targair/targradh" is used for predictions (such as weather) nowadays?

I would associate 'targair' with supernatural powers, like the second sight, not with anything so mundane as the weather forecast.

That is usally called the 'tuairmse sìde' - as I understand it, 'tuairmse' approximates roughly to 'informed guess' (on a good day, 'estimate') , so is certainly more appropriate. :spors:

dèan tuairmse air an t-sìde - to forecast the weather

Thoir tuairmse air - would be 'predict' in the sense of calculate (possibly roughly) on the basis of the evidence available. Take a guess at / have a stab at predicting.

Look up 'tuairmse' in Am Faclair Beag for more on this.

Gu h-iongantach, chan eil aimsir mhath againn... 'S e seo Alba, I guess. Tha e sgòthach agus fuar - 15C.
Amazingly, we haven't got good weather... It is Scotland I guess. Cloudy and cold - 15C.

Thàinig sìde fhaur ann ann an Texas an Iar an-dé, and thuit an teodhachd bho 98F/36C a-bhòin-dé gu 84F/29C an-diugh. Tha i coltach ri geamhradh tràth! (Chan eil gu dearbh, nach eil fhios.)

A cold front come in here in West Texas yesterday, and the temp dropped from 98F the day before yesterday to 84F today. It's like an early winter! (Not really, of course.)

Tha mi air faicinn "tuairmse" ach cuideachd "ro-aithris" uainneanan. Co-dhiù, cha chreid mi nach cuirte "ro-aithris" gu feum nauir a bruidhinn duine mu "predicting" neo "forecasting" rudan seach an t-sìde. Ach chan eil mi cinnteach mu dhéidhinn sin.

I have seen "tuairmse" but also "ro-aithris"sometimes. However, I think "ro-aithris" would be used when you are speaking about predicting or forecasting things other than the weather. But I'm not certain about that.

Bha an t-sìde gu math brèagha ach gaothach. Tha an t-uisge a' tighinn a-nis.

The weather has been quite beautiful but windy. Rain is coming.

Bhuail an stoirm tropaigeach "Hermine" air Brownsville anns an Costa Gulf de Thexas a-raoir agus gheibh mòr-chuid de Thexas frasan troime an seachdain seo, ach chan eil El Paso far a fuireach mise. :? Feum sinn an t-uisge.

Bha i teth an-diugh--94F/34C. Bidh i cho teth ri sin an t-seachdain-sa uile. Tha mi seachd searbh dhen theth seo. :x Cha ruigidh am foghar ann luath gu leòr! :urnaigh:

Tropical storm "Hermine" hit Brownsville on the Gulf Coast of Texas last night and most of Texas will get heavy rain showers this week, but not El Paso, where I live. We need the rain.

Today it was hot--94F. It will be this hot all week long. I'm so sick of this heat. The Fall can't get here soon enough!

Móran taing, a GhunChleoc. Dìochuimhneachaidh mise sin--teas/teth--daonnan. :mhoire: :?: Ach, bhiodh e dhen theas seo, nach bhiod? Nach biodh "teas" séimhicte as deidh "de/dhen"?

Co-dhiù, tha an-t-sìde air fàs nas fionnadaire an-seo. Cha bhi i ach mu 90-92F (32-33C) an-diugh!

Many thanks, GC. I'm always forgetting teas is the noun form of teth. But wouldn't teas be lenited after de/dhen?

Anyhow, the weather has gotten cooler here. It'll will only be about 90-92F today!

Cha bhiodh. Tha thu ceart anns an fharsaingeachd, ach tha casg air sèimheachadh ann eadar n agus t: dhen bhalla, ach dhen doras amsaa.

You're right in principle, but lenition's blocked between n and t.

Too hot. Played footie. Nearly died.

Tha deagh shìde ann an Sasann. Tha i fuar ach grianach. 'S e là brèagha a tha ann.

The weather is good in England. It is cold but sunny. It is a beautiful day.

Bha mi an dùil gum biodh e mar sin an-seo cuideachd - ach chan eil. 'S e latha fuar a th' ann, ceart gu leòr, ach chan eil e grianach idir idir - tha e gruamach agus rud beag ceòach. :(

I was expecting it to be like that here too, but it's not. It's a cold day, right enough, but it's not sunny at all. It's gloomy and a bit misty.
