Tha i grianach is fuar ann am Baltimore an-dràsda, ach bidh i nas blàithe feasgar.

It is sunny and cold in Baltimore right now, but it will be warmer in the afternoon.

...or perhaps more ambitiously...

Nuair a ràinig mi aig an obair agam sa-mhadainn, bha i grianach is fuar, ach bidh mu nas blàithe feasgar.

When I arrived at my work this morning, it was sunny and cold, but it will be warmer in the afternoon.

(I'm sure I have that construction wrong :naire: )

Celtic Spice: Mòran taing dhut!
Thank you!

Sgrìobh mi "an-dhiugh" gu ceàrr, "typo" mar a chanas iad anns a' Bheurla.
I wrote "an-dhiugh" incorrectly. "a "typo" as they say in English.

Feumaidh mi radh, ge-tà, gun do chuala mi gu tric rudeigin mar "an-yu" air BBC Alba.
I have to say, however, that I have heard often something like "an-yu" on BBC Alba.

Tha i tioram an-dràsta, ach tha duil gum bi frasan trom uisge feasgar an-diugh. Tha coltais gum bi dealanach ann cuideachd!
It is dry now, but heavy rain showers are expected this afternoon. It is likely that there will be lightning, too!

Rinn sibh uile glè mhath! Well done everyone! :D

Rud no dhà - a few things:

You can say Tha i grianach blàth, but CelticSpice is right, an-diugh without lenition.
Feumaidh mi radh, ge-tà, gun do chuala mi gu tric rudeigin mar "an-yu" air BBC Alba.
That's correct, but it's not lenition but something else. Some dialects do that after an and it's a bit similar to Irish urachadh/eclipsis. Unlike Irish, it's not a grammar thing in Scottish Gaelic though. http://akerbeltz.org/index.php?title=Na ... 99_agam%3F

èistachd ri, don't need the "airson" -> bha mi ag èisteachd ris an rèidio greis. We always try to tr*nsl*t* "for a while", but "a while" is better.
fhad 's a bha mi a' dol

sa mhadainn is short for anns a' mhadainn, so no hyphen

bidh i nas blàithe feasgar.

rain showers are expected - thathar an duil gum bi ... Thathar is the impersonal form of tha, you usually find it in the passive voice section of grammar books. Advanced stuff ;)

Tha e coltach gum bi ...

Latha math don h-uile duine.
Good day to everyone.

GunChleoc: Mòran taing airson 1.) greis, 2.) thathar agus 3.) tha e coltach. 'S fior thoil leam a bhith a ghabail ceartachadh mar seo.
GunChleoc: Thanks alot. I really like getting corrections like this.

Tha e coltach gum bi mi a' sgrìobhadh nas fheàrr as deidh dhut a thoirt dhomh cuideachadh.
It is probable that I will write better after you have given me help.

Thathar an duil gum bi i snog an-diugh, ach tha mi a' fuireach ann an sgìre far am bi an aimsir ag atharrachadh gu luath agus gu tric. Gu ruige sei that e grianach. Chì sinn...
It is expected to be nice today, but I live in an area where the weather changes quickly and often. So far it is sunny. We'll see...

Tha mi toilichte gu bheil na ceartachaidhean feumail dhut :D
I am happy that the corrections are useful to you

Seo beagan a bharrachd dhiubh:
Here's some more of them

às dèidh dhut cuideachadh a thoirt dhomh

'S fior thoil leam a bhith a' gabhail ... - you already have the a + sèimheachadh bit in a bhith, so no need to repeat in a' gabhail

GunChleoc: Mòran taing a-rithist. Bha mearachdan eile anns an post mu dheireadh, mar a bhiodh duil.
Thanks again. There were other mistakes in my last post, as would be expected :)

Chan eil mi buileach cinnteach cuin a bhios an ainmear a'dol ro- no as deidh "the verb".
I am not completely sure when the noun goes before or after the verb.

Co-dhiù, bha an latha brèagha an-diugh. Bha mi fhìn agus mo chù a' dol cuairt timeachall a' bhaile. Bha e a' cordadh rium gu mòr.
Anyhow, today was beautiful. My dog and I took a walk around town. I enjoyed it a lot.

GunChleoc: Many thanks! I like this.

An-dè ann am Baltimore, bha i grianach is blàth, ach cha robh i ro bhlàth!
Yesterday in Baltimore, it was sunny and warm, but it wasn't too warm!

(No am biodh i "bha i grianach is beagan bhlàth"?)
(Or would it be "it was sunny and a little warm"?)

Tha i nas sgòthaiche sa mhadainn ach nas blàithe, ach bidh i nas grianaiche feasgar, tha mi an dòchas!
It is cloudier this morning but warmer, but it will sunnier in the afternoon, I hope!

Gun Chleoc: Mòran taing. Leugh mi na bha thu a' sgrìobhadh san roinn gràmair. Glè fheumail gu dearbh. Tha cuimhne agam a-nis air an fhacal "gnìomhair".
Thanks alot. I read what you wrote in the grammar section. Very helpful indeed. I remember now the word for verb.

B' fheudar dhomh liosta "grammatical terms" a lorg.
I should search for a list of grammatical terms.

Tha latha brèagha eile againn an-seo. Tha an t-sìde grianach agus blàth.

Bha i blàth tron oidhche, agus latha snog eile a-nis. Tha mi a' smaoineachadh gum bi droch shìde a-maireach. Leis a sin bidh mi ag obair a-muigh feasgar an-diugh. Feumaidh mi na duilleagan a sguabadh.

It was warm though the night and another nice day now. I think it will be bad weather tomorrow. Given that, I will work outside this afternoon. I have to sweep the leaves.

Madainn mhath!
Good morning!

Ann am Baltimore sa madainn, tha droch shìde ann! Tha i glè fhliuch, is bidh i uabhasach tron feasgar is a-nochd.
In Baltimore this morning, the weather is bad! It is very wet and it will be awful through the afternoon and tonight.

A-màireach, bidh droch shìde fhathast sa madainn, ach bidh i nas fhèarr feasgar is Dihaoine.
Tomorrow, the weather will still be bad in the morning, but it will be better in the afternoon and on Friday.

Tha mi a'smaoineachadh gum bi deagh shìde tron deireadh-seachdain.
i think it will be good weather through the weekend.

Iolair: tha mi an dòchas gum bi thu a' fantainn tioram feasgar!
Iolair: I hope you will remain dry this afternoon!

Chan eil me cinnteach ma tha a' faintainn = remain, as in 'to stay dry'.
