Tha an cat fuar; the cat is cold.
Bha an cat fuar; the cat was cold.

Bha ad air a' chat; there was a hat on the cat.
Tha ad air a' chat; there is a hat on the cat.

Actually you'll find both "ad" and "air" in your wee dictionary.

It's great that you're showing an interest in Gaelic, even though I understand it's your son's homework that this forum is helping you with. How is he making out ? How do you rate his grasp of what he's learnt so far ? Ask him to tr*nsl*t* this: Tha an cù mòr ach tha an cat beag.

Keep up the good work. You're doing well ! ( Agus chan eil sin dona; and that's not bad. )

My son is getting really good at it, the sentence is the most difficult thing for him, but he goes into p3 after holidays, and im so grateful for all the help i get on here, so glad i found it.

Been looking at courses to start soon, but nothing so far.

Here is todays sentence. I think ive got the first part but just cant think of 2nd part.

Tha mi a' dol dhan bhùth agus tha bò agus muc a' dol dhan sù

I'm going to the shop and the cow and pig are going to

Hey, glè mhath!

..all right so far, and the last part is 'the zoo'! (There's no Z in Gaelic.)

You're doing really well!

Just a fine point: It's (a) cow and pig, not the cow and pig. Gaelic for the is an/am/a', but there's no word for a, you just drop the an.
