Negation of guma

I want to negate the following sentence:

Guma bi mi fada a' tighinn

Dè am facal ceart? gus nach?

Guma bi mi fada a' tighinn

That doesn't work for starters. Guma has to be followed by an adjective (or directly preceded in poetic language):
guma math a théid leat...
guma beò thu...
guma slàn thu...

For anything else, you need to use gun/gur:
gum faigh thu bàs...
gun doirear dhut duais...
gur taigh a gheibh thu...

What were you trying to say with the above?

dè ur beachd a chàirdean?

Gaeli verbs p26 verbal noun (imperative mood to give a negative order)

'The Imperative Mood is made negative by being preceeded by na.

and p63 the Regular verb imperative mood.

'òltar e, may it be drunk'

'The negative is na buailtear iad etc, "may they not be struck" etc.'

Yup, you need an imperative form of a verb after the word na.
òlam > na òlam
òl > na òl
òladh e/i/iad > na òladh e/i/iad
òlamaid > na òlamaid
òlaibh > na òlaibh

So for "let it not be too long before..."
na bitheadh e ro fhada gus/mus

You see that on some roadsigns in the second person - na bi fada gun tilleadh.
