New computer, no accents

I've just bought a new computer with Windows 7. I had no trouble with the accents required for Gaelic on my old computer, but I can' t recall how I went about getting them. All I had to do was hit the " tilde" key before a vowel and the vowel would appear with an accent. Any suggestions as to what I can do ? Right now I'm typing 133+ALT to get à, etc, but it's a pain in the butt. I'd appreciate your help.

There's a thread on this question on the Forum FAQs:

Gun Chleoc's modification as explained in post 1 makes it easier on here (see list of items to tick below posting box), but you need other solutions for accent use elsewhere. Suggestions in the thread.

:D

On this forum you can also use the buttons.

I've added a link for a guide on Windows 7 to the other thread, to keep it all in one place.

S'ann le "united states international keyboard layout" a tha e comasach. Chrèid mi gur e sin a bh'agad roimhe- `+ e = è. Nam beachdsa tha an doigh sin fad nas fhurasta agus nas luaithe.
