NEWS RELEASE

'Great news! Taic/CNSA has opened The World’s First Altram Centre which hosted the much awaited New Altram/Bumps & Babies Course and now meets from 10am to 4pm every Monday and Thursday in Glasgow.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all those who came along and hopefully had a good time.
Finlay M. Macleoid, Chief Executive of Taic/CNSA who was present on the historic opening day said “It was really good to see prospective parents and parents with their babies learning Gaelic, that is readily applicable to their every day life”.
Pleasing to say, we had a good turnout, although we would very much like to see heaps more people coming along and joining in and as usual, there will be a warm welcome for all. However we are still keen to see more of those considering parenthood, prospective parents, expectant parents, parents of a birth to 9 month old child, grandparents, relatives, friends etc. from all over Central Scotland. And again, it would be a real bonus if we found lots of fluent Gaelic speakers among the students.
Remember that the earlier Gaelic is introduced into a child’s life, the more chance of ending up with a long term fluent Gaelic speaker. Ideally we want Gaelic to be a child’s first language, this will naturally, require the parent(s), in the first instance, to be fluent in the language themselves; hence the new Altram Course.
It is also worth repeating that the language used on this Altram Course will be highly relevant to parent and child language bonding, for it embraces such tasks as feeding, nappy changing, dressing the child at night and for the day, meal times, washing, plus the language of affection etc.
I would also like to mention that in April Taic/CNSA will be running
a training course aimed at those who are fluent in Gaelic and maybe have some skills connected with feeding, nappy changing, caring for a child.
If all this seems to fit you, why not consider becoming a tutor or helper on an Altram Course, in either case, we would like very much to hear from you.

For those reading this and living outside Central Scotland, we would be most grateful if you would pass this information about The World’s First Altram Centre, onto anyone who you think would be interested.'
