I thought it was curious that I hadn't encountered a structure like that in Gaelic, as it seems such a simple and natural way to employ verbal nouns, but then I read this:
[ http://heritage.caledonianmercury.com/2 ... -mor/00298 ]‘S e Gàidhlig ionnsachadh a rinn Edeard Dwelly
Anyway, so I had a look at Mark's verb book and could only find a couple of examples of "dean" with a VN:
Rinn iad gearan ris na pàrantan aige. (Although Mark's literal tr*nsl*t**n in "made a complaint" rather than "made a complaining".)
Deanaibh suidhe. (And of course this one was instantly familiar)
So is this common at all?
