Dealbh-chluiche dhruidhteach 'Roghainn nan Daoine'

Unread post by faoileag »

Tha am pìos seo air a bhith ga ghabhal air feadh na h-Alba agus le deagh lèirmheasan. Bhithinn airson a faicinn ach chan urrainn dhomh a bhith ann aigan àm cheart idir. :(
Tha mi an dòchas gun do chlàr iad i airson BBC Alba.

Seo barrachd fiosrachaidh agus lèirmheasan:

Air a bheachdachadh leis a bhuidheann agus stiu?ireadh le John Wright.

Roghainn nan Daoine intertwines two powerful stories, one of a young Island woman’s struggle with matters of principal and living with the choices she has made, the other follows the desperate social and political circumstances which provoked the emergence of a new spirituality-based belief system in the 1840’s which still has resonance today.
This Gaelic language physical theatre show is a radical contemporary evocation of Hebridean cultures, heredity, human tenacity and remarkable lives.

Please note: A live simultaneous tr*nsl*t**n to English is provided on individual headphones for the audience.

Is ann as an eachdraidh shònraichte de’n Eaglais Chlèidhreach ann an Leòdhas anns na 1820s agus na 1840s a rug Roghainn nan Daoine. Seo agaibh sgeulachd caileag fulangach à Leòdhas le creideamh làidir agus air a sàrachadh le uachdaran an-iochdmhor, an cultar air a sgrios agus na daòine air am fuadachadh as an tìr am measg an gort.

Yet despite glitches, hitches, and serial failures of the simultaneous tr*nsl*t**n from Gaelic to English, Roghainn Nan Daoine looks at last like the show in which this ambitious company finally assembles all the elements it needs to begin to play a major role in Scottish theatre life. At the core of the event, there's an astonishing and powerful story, full of resonances for the 21st century; the story of how the bitter experience of economic injustice, clearance and famine gradually drove the people of Lewis into the hands of a harsh but populist religious fundamentalism, that sided with them against landowners.

And the strength of the story, told in a style capable of carrying such an epic tale, leads director John Wright's seven-strong company through to a moving and powerful conclusion, particularly at the moment when the people rise to walk out of the established church, and stand outside singing their great Gaelic psalms.

Michael Breakey's design – using a series of rough tweed rocks to create island landscapes bathed in low golden light – adds a touch of beauty that captures an essential element of island life; and in Catriona Lexy Campbell as the young heroine Catriona, and Mairi Morrison as her sister Dolag, the show has two fine female stars, supported by David Walker as their old grandmother Kirsty, a moving and timeless witness to a vital moment in human history.
