Hi again everyone

I'm looking for a downloadable dictionary that I can use with Microsoft Office 2007 which is compatable with Windows Vista Home Basic. I really do hope that someone knows where I can get one which I can save on my hard drive and use whenever I write in Gaidhlig.
It's driving me mad knowing that I can't put accents above letters which need one and makes what I've written look like utter rubbish without the accents.
Mar sin leibh an-drasta.

I have no idea about downloading dictionaries (too technical for me) but the accents point is surely not a great problem, even without a dictionary on your pc? Various solutions given on here:
http://www.foramnagaidhlig.net/foram/vi ... ?f=12&t=32
And you can always have one of the online dictionaries (links at top of this page) like Am Faclair Beag
http://www.faclair.com/
or Stòr-Data
http://www2.smo.uhi.ac.uk/gaidhlig/faclair/sbg/lorg.php
open in another window when you're writing.
Not sure if I've understood your problem, though. I don't see the essential connection between downloading dictionaries and putting accents on words.

A good English-Gaelic dictionary by Roy Wentworth can be downloaded from the SMO site here (just click on the link):
http://www.smo.uhi.ac.uk/gaidhlig/wentw ... tomhasach/
There are
others there, eg one focused on linguistic terminology
http://www.smo.uhi.ac.uk/gaidhlig/wentw ... ananachas/
But the connection with accents escapes me too.

Ma chleachdas tu MS-Word, tha stràcan furasta. Airson, m.e., Ò, cùm shios "Ctrl" is dèan "`". An dèidh sin, cùm shios "Caps" is dèan "o". Nochdaidh "Ò".
If you use MS-Word, accents are easy. For, e.g., Ò, hold down "Ctrl" and do "`". After that, hold down "Caps" and do "o". "Ò" will appear.
'S urrainn dhut, m.e., seantans a dhèanamh anns a' MhS-Word agus an sin cut & paste a dhèanamh.
You can, e.g., do a sentence in MS-Word and then do gearradh & glaodhadh

Seall seo.
http://barrettweb.net/gaidhlig.htm
Cleachdaidh mi am faclair seo fad na h-uine.
Tha MacFarlane agus MacBain ann.
I use this dictionary all the time. It has MacFarlane's and MacBain's in it. Download it to your own computer. It runs on XP OK. I use US International keyboard layout to get accents. There's good instructions on the web. Just Google it.
a Mhr. Akerbeltz, am biodh rudeigin mar sin freagarrach leis am faclair agad fhèin ? Tha mi cinnteach gum bi daoine toilichte a phàigheadh. Bithinn gu dearbh.

Mòran taing, Alasdair! Bha mi eòlach air na faclairean aig MacBain is MacFarlane, ach dìreach
an-seo, far nach robh an lorgair ag obair (air mo laptop co-dhiù). Bha agam ri dhol ris gach facal 'duilleag-air-duilleag'.
Thanks a lot, Alasdair! Knew the 2 dicts but only on a website on which the search engine didn't work (with my laptop anyway) - had to get to each word 'page-by-page'.
