I had a quick look at the Caimbeul book when I was at Comhairle nan Leabhraichean. It is a grammar-based course book rather than a reference grammar. It looked very good to me for learning, treating one topic at a time and not too much in one go. It you are looking for a reference book with nice tables in it to look up stuff, it won't do IMO.
