ACH...
airson seo a dhèanamh, bidh am Beeb a' gearradh a h-uile stèisean rèidio à Freeview. Agus cumaidh sin a-steach Radio nan Gàidheal is Radio Scotland.
An-dràsta, tha, air Freeview, aon uair gach latha de phrògraman Gàidhlig le TeleG (seanal 8). Agus a-mach air 1800-1900 chan eil dad sam bith air Seanal 8. Dè bha ceàrr air Seanal 8 a chleachdadh do BhBC Alba? Agus 's ann leis a h-uile stèisean rèidio aig a' Bheeb a dh'fhaodte seo a dhèanamh.
Agus thathar ag ràdh gu bheil S4C "independent commercial station" bla bla. Uill, nach bi am Beeb a' gabhail thairis air S4C roimhe fhada? Dè an sin - gun Sh4C air Freeview - no gearradh Radio Cymru amsaa?
'S math gum bi BBC Alba ri fhaotainn air Freeview - ACH chan eil mi ag aontachadh leis na gearraidhean do na stèiseanan rèidio air sgàth 's nach fheum seo a dhèanamh.

You cannot use the Tele-G channel as there is only literally room for that 1 hour of programming a day - the rest of the space is used by another couple of channels. On Freeview each 24 hour slot is split up and divided between channels - there are only so many available and all the other ones are taken.
The only way for BBC Alba to get on Freeview is to time share. The BBC Trust have decided that as this move is only going to affect a maximum of 1,500, who have absolutely no other means of getting these radio stations, that it is worthwhile and will not cause too many problems.
Ma bhios sich son barrachd fiosrachadh, leughaibh na aithisgean aig an Urras. Gu math inntinneach.

Chan eil fior "seanalain" air Freeview.
Instead it has "multiplexes" -- one frequency carrying multiple datastreams. Datastreams can be video, audio, subtitles, teletext of bundles of them. For familiarity's sake, we mark these as channels with individual numbers.
When you use the red button to select alternative commentary during a football match, you're selecting an alternative audio datastream. When you select a different camera angle, that's an alternative video stream.
There's a lot of shuffling of data during the day to jigsaw the most use out of the bandwidth available. As Alasdair says, TeleG has been squeezed into a little corner. Also, the BBC don't have a stake in that multiplex, and since the launch of BBC HD, the BBC are very short of bandwidth.

Tha agam ri ràdh gu bheil Freeview agam agus a dh'aindeoin a h-uile seanalan TBh 's ann a tha amannan nuair nach bi dad inntinneach orra ach, m.e., bidh rudeigin inntinneach air Radio 7, Radio 4, RnG amsaa. Tha rèidio agam a shuidheas aig mo leabaidh agus tha TBh san t-seòmar-shuidhe. Cha bu toigh leam an rèidio a thoirt chun an t-seòmair-shuidhe air sgàth seirbheis rèidio fhaighinn.
Seadh, chan e duilgheadas ana-mhòr a tha seo, ach 's ann a tha e na dhuilgheadas, duilgheadas a dh'fhaodte a sheachnadh nam biodh am Beeb deiseil airson obair cheart a dhèanamh le BBC Alba an àite ga bhruthadh a-steach do bhandwidth an rèidio.

As I recall it, the Beeb were granted their multiplexes by act of parliament. Buying new bandwidth would be interfering with the commercial sector, so they're not allowed.
If they want new bandwidth, they've got to go back to parliament, but there's no way a Tory government would grant them it.

Aidh, 's dòcha gu bheil thu ceart. Why didn't the expletives get it right to start with and have BBC Alba on freeview bho thùs?

Actually, I was slightly wrong. The BBC are allowed to buy bandwidth from ITV, they just don't want to.
The original justification for not launching on Freeview was that they didn't have the money for both satellite and terrestrial, and coverage for Freeview is (was?) shockingly poor in the islands.

Whatever it is, nothing to those living outside UK, and BBC Alba's website is still reluctant to play videos if you haven't got a British IP.

Bheil seo a ciallachadh gum bi e ri fhaighinn taobh a-muigh bhon Rìoghachd Aonaichte (air an eadar-lìn)?

Tha. Nuair a bhios tu co-cheangailte, chì thu an àite
Tha prògraman Tbh BBC iPlayer an-dràsta rim faotainn anns an Rìoghachd Aonaichte a-mhàin, ach gheibh thu prògraman Rèidio BBC iPlayer air fad.
amsaa an dà chuid prògraman beò 's na prògraman air iPlayer mar a bhiodh tu san Rìoghachd. Cho fad 's a tha e air an Eadar-lìon, faodaidh tu fhaicinn. (Chan eil fhios 'am a bheil e ag obair air sianalan eile, ach tha e ag obair air a' BhBC gu math.)

Mura h-eil VPN tunneling agad, chan fhaigh thu ach An Là taobh a-muigh Bhreatainn. Ma tha an t-airgead agad, feuch an ceangal aig Thrissel.
