'S mise Cailean. Is e mion-sgrùdair an eadar-lìn a th' annam. Is e oileanach an feallsanachd a th' annam a bharrachd.
Tha mi à Canada. Tha beagan Gàidhlig agam… gun sgil.

My name is Colin. I'm a web analyst (and I have zero confidence that's what I said above... trying to pull that out of a dictionary). I'm also a philosophy student. I live in Canada. I speak a little Gaelic, poorly!

I've been looking at Gaelic on and off for a few years but haven't gotten as far as I'd like. Perhaps actually trying to write some things and get some feedback will be useful? I have no vocabulary--I'm all about dictionaries at the moment, which probably shows.

So, halò!

Halò a Chailein, agus fàilte!
:D
Tha e math Canèidianach eile fhaicinn an seo. Agus 's e Gàidhlig ceart gu leòr a th' agad, na gabh dragh!

Tha mi a' faicainn gu bheil thu ann an Ottawa. A bheil cùrsa Gàidhlig agad an sin? A bheil thu a' seinn anns a' chòisir Ghàidhlig?

Welcome! Good to see another Canadian here. And your Gaelic is fine, don't worry!
I see you're in Ottawa. Do you have a Gaelic course there? Do you sing in the Gaelic choir?

Tapadh leat air am fàilte!
Chan eil mi ag foghlaim Gàidhlig tro cùrsa, ach tha aon cùrsa a' teagaisg aig am oilthigh dhe Ottawa. Tha mi a' sgrùd ann am feallsanachd an sin.
Agus chan e, cha toigh leam seinn.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm not learning Gaelic in a course, but there is one offered at the University of Ottawa. I'm studying philosophy there.
And no, I don't like to sing.
