Random Gàidhlig

Well, since I don't really know what to say, I'll just say some random things in Gaelic to practice. Please critic. I really do need more practice. Egads! I'm terrible at Gaelic. :P

Obh obh! Tha mo fhalt ri theine! Carson a tha mo fhalt ri theine? Càit a bheil an t-uisge? anns an taigh? Chan eil? Carson nach eil uisge anns an taigh? Feighibh!... Chan eil mo fhalt ri theine.

!!! My hair in on fire! Why is my hair on fire? Where is the water? In the house? No? Why isn't water in the house? Wait!.. My hair isn't on fire.

Bhiodh am fiadh sin a' dol dhan achadh, ach chan eil an t-achadh sin achadh idir, 's e cearc.

That deer would go to the field, but that field isn't a field at all, it's a chicken.

'S e sìos an rathad òir a tha sinn a' dol.

It is down the golden road that we go.

Dè tha sin? Egads, mar na Sasannaich ag ràdh! 'S i cuileag! Ruith!

What is that? Egads, as the English say! It's a fly! Run!

Duaisean is Iongnaighean!

Prizes and Surprises!

I spent ages doing a detailed reply to this, by which time FnaG had dislogged me and all was lost. I think this is a design fault as needs looked at.

I've noticed that too. It can get rather annoying. Sorry about that though. Perhaps we should copy our replies if we think it's been a while?

The session length is set to 1 hour, that should be enough for long posts. You can make this longer by hitting "preview". Overall you have 3 hours to submit a form if you do that.

If you are writing something long, you should always make sure you have a copy on your computer, e.g. you could use Word to write your post and then copy & paste. Internet connections can get unstable as well, so if you're kicked offline your post will be gone, regardless of the settings in this forum.

@CelticSpice: Tha thu a' dèanamh glè mhath! Chan eil ach rudan beaga ann.

m' fhalt: fh is silent, so mo becomes m' (before a vowel)

Wait = Feithibh

Bhiodh am fiadh sin a' dol dhan achadh, ach chan e achadh a th' anns an achadh sin idir, 's e cearc a th' ann.

mar a tha na Sasannaich ag ràdh! - this means they are sayint it right now. When you say something more general: mar a chanas na Sasannaich!
If you listen to Radio nan Gàidheal, you will hear the odd "mar a chanas 'ad" - like they say, often following an English expression.

'S i cuileag! This is grammatically correct, but it is a statement of fact rather than a warning. In this context, it's better to emphasize it: 'S e cuileag a th' ann! You could also say: There is a fly! Tha cuileag ann!

Tapadh leat, GunChleoc!

I need to work a lot more on my grammar.

If I may ask:
Ach chan e achadh a th' anns an achadh sin idir more literally translated would say but it is not a field that is in that field at all, right?
