What's with "tr*ns***"?

Unread post by CairistionaNicD »

I really can't figure out why the words "tr*nsl*t*" and "tr*nsl*t**n are always spelled with asterisks on this forum. Could someone please enlighten me?

To stop all those folk looking for a free tr*nsl*t**n for a t****o etc, from swamping the foram with requests. It has happened elsewhere in the past.

Because several forums in the past that mention the words "Scottish" "Gaelic" and "tr*nsl*t**n" have been flooded out with requests from people who have no intention of learning the learning, but expect strangers to give them a free tr*nsl*t**n for a t*tt**. By putting the words "tr*nsl*t*" and "tr*nsl*t**n" into the profanity filter, the administrator has ensured that the site doesn't come up when someone googles for a tr*nsl*t**n.

It's been very, very successful.

Ah, thank you. I'm a professional tr*nsl***r, so was very curious and couldn't think of a reason on my own. I can totally understand why you would want to avoid that problem.
