Hallò a h-uile duine. Ciamar a tha sibh? Is mise Kahlan. Tha mi neach-ionnsachaidh ùr, fad sia seachdainean an-dràsta. Tha mi às na Stàitean Aonaichte, agus tha mi a’ fuireach ann New Jersey, faisg air New York City.
Hello everyone. How are you? I’m Kahlan. I’m a new learner, for 6 weeks now. I’m from the United States, and I live in New Jersey, near NY City.
I don’t know too much Gàidhlig yet to write all that I want to say. I’m learning on my own for now, mostly from TAIC, and some from the TY Gaelic book.
I was lurking for several weeks to get enough nerve to register and make a post.

I am very grateful for you to correct my mistakes! Tapadh leibh.

Jersey Ur? A bheil e snog? Tha mo chairdean a' dol gu Iòrc Ur ann an t-Òigmhios.
Mu mi-fhèin? 'S mise Alasdair agus tha mi neach-ionnsachaidh cuideachd - Ach fad aon bliadhna a-nis!
Tha mi a Alba agus tha mi a' fuireach ann an Dolair, faisg air Sruighlea is Dùn Èideann. Tha mi a' smaoinich tha e snog ach beagan boring seo.
Ann an t-Sultain tha mi a' dol gu Sabhal Mòr ostiag 'sa t-Eilean Sgìtheanach. Tha mi 'n dochas bith e spòrs.
Hey Kahlan.
I am doing away but I am so bored... i will be doing homework soon (Spanish and English). How fun!!
New Jersey? Is it nice? My friends are going to New York in June.
As for me? I am called Alasdair and i am a learner too - But for a year now! I am from Scotland and live in Dollar, near Stirling and Edinburgh. I think it is nice but a little boring here.
In September i am going to SMO on Skye. I hope it will be fun.
So, what made you want to learn Gaidhlig? I a amazed at how many people from the USA are learning Gaidhlig on here. There are also people from Portugal and France!
Tha mi toilichte do "choinneachadh" - I am pleased to "meet" you

Halò Alasadair,
Tha mise toilichte do coinneachadh, cuideachd.
Tha Jersey Ùr sa mhòr-chuid snog, ach dùmhail. Mòran taighean is bùthan.
Hello Alasdair, it’s nice to meet you too.
New Jersey is mostly nice, but it’s crowded in many parts. A lot of houses and stores.
But there are many things to do here. NYC, the beach, and mountains for skiing are close. Your friends will have a very good time in NY.
It’s wonderful that you are going to SMO!!! What is your major? I hope to take an Cùrsa Inntrigidh from SMO in the fall.
I became interested in Gaelic when I saw some Gaelic words in a book. They seemed to be completely unpronounceable! I began to read a bit about Gaelic, and fell in love with the language, and started to learn it. It makes my heart 'toilichte'

when I read and listen to it!
