Okay, so I would like to know how to say something like: "I don't run as often as I would like"
where there is a verb clause involving "is".

Would it be "Cha bhi mi a' ruith cho tric ris bu toil leam?"

I haven't really run across many constructions like this so I'm pretty stumped.

I think "ris" only goes for comparing nouns. My gut reaction is 's : cho tric 's as toil leam, but I'm a learner and I've not been speaking the language much lately....

Tha Niall ceart... the first type applies to any sentence that follows that doesn't involve the copula is (is, 's, bu, b')
tha e cho mòr ri taigh
chan eil e cho mòr ri taigh

The other does:
cha bhi mi a' ruith cho tric 's a bu toigh leam
chan ith mi guga cho ainneamh 's a b' àbhaist dhomh
chuala mi seo cho tric 's nach toigh leam e tuilleadh

Note the last example is one where the copula is notionally there but not audible/visible.

Awesome! Also, Akerbeltz, I'm having trouble parsing that last example. "I heard this as often as I don't like him more"?

Also, what if I wanted to say something like "I don't have as much as you."?

I think this diverges into a somewhat different idiom. My first guess would be "chan eil an urad* agam 's a tha agad".
(* actually, my first guess was "uraid", but AFB says that's the genitive.)

That's more or less "I don't have the quantity/amount that** you have."
(** actually, plain "that" would be just "a", but I my gut says "'s a" is needed to be more "quantity like what you have". Without it, I think the urad would be implied to be same-thing-same, not essentially-equvalent-same.)

More like "I heard this so often that I don't like to [hear it] any more".

Also, the 's in Akerbeltz' example is short for "agus".
