Halò,
Can someone please tell me what the vocative form is for the name 'Seoc'? I know it would lenite but am uncertain of the vowel transformation. I tried to look it up myself, but could not find any resource that disclosed the slenderization of 'eo'. If anyone knows of such a resource, it would be greatly appreciated if you could pass it along.

Am Faclair Beag says it doesn't change (i.e. you can lenite, but not slenderise), probably as it's a Gaelic rendering of a non-Gaelic name:
Seoc /ʃɔxg/
fir. neo-ath.
Jock
But there does seem to be a genitive form of the name in use -
Google throws up some reasonably reputable sources:
an fhèineachd Sheoic an Reubainnear
Rob Mac Sheoic ic a Lagain
Domhnall 'an Sheoic
and vocative is often the same as the genitive in names.

Also note that "eo" doesn't slenderize, "c" does

There are only a few vowels that are altered by slenderisation. Slenderisation is usually just done by adding "i" before the consonant, and if you can't find a specific rule for your word to say something else should happen, just stick to adding I.Eòs Buidhe wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2019 1:42 pmbut could not find any resource that disclosed the slenderization of 'eo'.
The source of Eòs's confusion is things like Nìall -> Nèill/Nìll, where the slenderisation results in a vowel change.

Thanks for the responses! Yes, I assumed "eo" in this case would transform to help assist the slenderization of the "c". I guess I'll proceed with "a Sheoic".
