Mo thurras / My trip.
Disathairne, chaidh mi dhan Colaiste Ghaidhlig na h-Alba air a' bhus agus air a' threana. Rug mi treana bho Allmhagh Mor aig 1013m agus rainig mi ann an Glaschu aig 1113m. An uair sin, rug mi treana eile gu Malaig - Rainig mi ann an seo aig 550f. 'S e turras fad' a bh' ann - Mu timcheall deich uairean! Ann am Malaig rug mi an aiseig bho ann gu Armadail - Thug e treathad mionaidean. Nuair a bha mi ann an Armadail rug mi a' bus gu SMO comhla te eile a Glaschu.
Aig a' cholaiste dh' fhuireach mi anns an tur - Tha e nas fhearr na "C block". Aig a' cholaiste chonnich mi moran duine as air cuiart an saoghal, ach mar is abhaist a dh'Alba. Bha iad eibhinn agus gle chairdeil dhomh.
Rinn mi "Ire 4" de "Cursa Goirid". 'S e cursa math dha-rireabh a th' ann! Agus, bha an tidsear againn fior mhath! Chord mo chursa moran!!!
Fheasgair Diardaoin, chaidh mi dhan ceilidh anns an Thalla Mhor. Sheinn mi, comhla ri mo clas, da oran sa' Ghaidhlig! (Far Am Bi Mi Fhin + Chan eil Mo Leannan an ann Seo). Bha e gle mhath, ach bha sinn dona! Tri uairean de cleachdadh a-mhain! Haha... Bha e spors ged. Choiseachd a' cheilidh aig 7f agus thilleadh mi aig meadhan-oidhche!
An-diugh, choisich mi gu an traigh faisg air a' cholaiste comhla ri an te bho Glaschu. 'S e coisich math dha-rireabh a bh' ann. Chunnaic sinn otter anns a' mhuir! Deagh latha!
A-nise, feumaidh mi a' tilleadh gu Dolair... Chan eil mi ag irraidh a dhol dhachaidh! Chan eil! Thuirt sin, bith mi air ais ann an seachd sheachdainean!
On Saturday, i went to the Gaidhlig College of Scotland by bus and train. I got the train from Alloa to Glasgow. then i got another train to Mallaig - I arrived at 1750. It was a long journey - Around 10hours. In Mallaig i got the ferry to Armadale - It took 30mins. When i was in Armadale i got he bus to SMO with a woman from Glasgow.
At the college i stayed in the tower - It's better than "C block". At the college i met many people from around the world, but normally from Scotland. They were funny and friendly to me.
I did "Level 4" of "Short course". It's an excellent course. And, our teacher was extremely good! I enjoyed it a lot!
Thursday evening, i went to the ceilidh in The Big Hall. I sang, with my class, two songs in Gaelic. It was great, but we were bad! Only 3 hours of practice. Haha! It was fun though. It started at 1900 and i returned at midnight.
Today, i walked to the beach near the college with a woman from Glasgow. It was an excellent walk. We saw an otter in the sea. Good day!
Now, i must return to Dollar... I don't want to go home! No! That said, i will be back in 7 weeks!

Sin thu fhèin, Alasdair! Tha do chuid Gàidhlig a' fàs fìor mhath!
Well done! You Gaelic is growing really good
Chòrd an sgeulachd agus na dealbhan rium
I liked the story and the pictures
Seo beagan ceartachadh dhut is tha mi an dòchas nach d' rinn mi fhìn tòrr de mhearachdan ùra ann
Here's a bit of correction. I hope I haven't made a lot of new mistakes myself
An turas agam - Seall an-siud carson
Fhuair mi treana
ràinig mi Glaschu - I reached G, no preposition needed.
turas
Fhuair mi am bus chun an t-SMO còmhla ri tè à Glaschu. Chan eil tè a th' annad-sa is tha mi a' smaoineachadh gum bi "tè à Ghlaschu" nas fhèarr dhut na "tè eile à Ghlaschu"
dh' fhuirich mi anns an tur
choinnich mi
Chòrd an cùrsa agam gu mòr rium
dhan cheilidh anns an Talla
Tri uairean de chleachdadh
Bha e spors ged: spors is a noun, so you have to say "'S e spors a bh' ann ge-tà", but I don't think one would say that in this context... I'd prefer saying "Ghabh sinn tleachd ge-tà" or "Bha sin èibhinn ge-tà" (ge-tà is from ged tha)
Thòisich a' cheilidh aig 7f agus thill mi... you could also say: cha do thill mi ach
chòisich mi chun an traigh
comhla ri an te: còmhla ri tè = with a woman, còmhla ris an tè = with the woman
'S e coiseachd mhath...
feumaidh mi tilleadh

Am faod mi fhìn tighinn a-steach an seo?
May I come in here?
An toiseach:
Chaidh mi gu Colaiste Gàidhlig na h-Alba.
You don't need to say "dhan" here, because "Colaiste Gàidhlig na h-Alba" means "THE Gaelic College of Scotland". So no need for two "the"s. Also, "colaiste” is masculine. So no need to lenite "Gàidhlig".
Treana is trèana and sometimes just "trean" (no accent).
"Turas" is feminine, so "Turas fhada".
"Mu timcheall" should be "mu thimcheall" as there is lenition in this context.
I prefer "Gabh" to "rug" for "Rug mi an aiseag".
Thug e trichead mionaidean.
"Dh' fhuirich mi" sounds a bit strange. "Bha mi a' fuireach" is better, and it sounds better if "aig a' cholaiste" comes after rather than before.
You say "Choinnich mi ri tòrr dhaoine", but unless you actually
arranged to meet them, then it should be "thachair" that is used here.
"às air feadh an t-saoghail"
cursa - cùrsa (with accent)
Feasgar Diardaoin NOT Fheasgair..
Bha e na spòrs ged-thà.
Chaidh mi dhan chèilidh
anns an Talla Mhòr
Thòisich an cèilidh....
Thill mi aig meadhan-oidhche.
Chunnaic sinn "dòbhran" (otter) sa mhuir.
The expression "that said" is best expressed with "an dèidh sin" or "a dh' aindeoin sin".
THE END.
Ueill, an dèidh sin agus na dhèidh, 's e deagh oidhirp a rinn thu dha-rìreabh!
Well, after all is said and done, you made a very good effort indeed!
Try to use accents as much as possible though. I noticed at the end, that you didn't use any, and that won't be good for the future, and remembering to put them in when you need to!
Accents are important for pronunciation and some words in Gaelic are spelt the same, with the only difference being the accent which tells them apart in writing. So, get those accents in a bhalaich!
Tìoraidh.

Halo, tha mi aig an taigh a-nis. Abair boring...
I noticed most of the mistakes i have made are silly wee ones - It was late and i had to re-write it as the net crashed on me! As regarding the accents, i can't be bothered on the laptop as it is too much hassle... I know where they go. when i'm writing i normally think "a ' d e grave a n a m h"
Thuirt mo thidsear "You are well ready for An Cursa Comais".
Can someone please explain this "chun" thing, as i have bought "Gymnippers Diciadain le Martainn Mac an t-Saoir" (Which is fìor mhath, btw) and they use "chun" a lot.
@ An Gobaire: I used "Dh' fhuirich" mi as that is what we have been learning all week - Verbs! I am practicing using them properly instead of being basic about it.
Also, it is "Colaiste Ghàidhlig na h-Alba" is this is what is written all over their stuff. Take it up with the college, hàhà! Angus Watson says it is feminine too!

Yes, but in this situation you didn't use an exact time expression, so, I may be wrong, but I think "bha mi a' fuireach" is better.*Alasdair* wrote:

However, as the action is over, perhaps you're right.. you are back home ow, maybe that's fine.
An dà, tha mi toilichte gun tug mi "cuideachadh" dhuit oir, rinn sin cobhair dhomh fhèin an àite dhuit-sa!
Well, I'm happy that I gave you some "help", as that was a help to myself rather than to you!
Ach, tha mi an dòchas gun robh na ceartachaidhean eile cuideachail dhuit.
However, I hope that the other corrections were helpful for you.

Is dòcha gun robh e glè mhì-shona leis an t-suidehachadh is fhuair e opairèiseanAn Gobaire wrote:Well, according to Dwelly's "colaiste" is masculine. However, yes, the other dictionaries give it as "feminine". I didn't bother checking the modern dictionaries...I wonder why it's changed since the 19th century? haha
Maybe it was very unahappy with the situation and got an operation
