An-dè, dh'fhalbh mi comhla ri mo phuituar gu Feis Spratton. Dh'fhalbh sinn anns a char agus a' coisicheadh dh'an Feis bha neach a' cluich cèol Runrig (cha do i Runrig ged), ach seinn mi comhla ri iad. Cha do iad cluich gin orain Gàidhlig ged. Chluich iad Pride of the Summer aus the Engine Room.

Chluich mi is mo phuituar aig "Panic Circus" le "Diablos". Choimead sinn anns a Bhuth agus cheannaich mi leine ruadh.

Dh'Eist sinn an comhlan "Mad Dog McCrea". Bha sinn glè mhath. Dh'ith sinn "Donuts" teth agus dh'òl sinn teoclaid teth.

Aig deich uairean, thig an Peatbog Faeries air an àrd-urlar. Bha sinn uabasach mhath, agus chluich sinn The Anthropologist, Invergarry Reel, There's a Girl Behind the Bar Who Thinks she's Gabro, Friend of Crazy Joe, Lochs and Rocks Reel, Still Drunk in the Morning, Wako King Haakon, Shifting Peat and Feet, Caberdrone agus Folk Police.

Oir tha sin mòran taighan anns a' Spratton, stad* iad a' cluich aig leth-uair an dèidh aon deug.

Bhideo an-Seo

Yesterday I went to see the Peatbog Faeries at Spratton Folk Festival. There was also a band playing Runrig tunes, but no Gaelic ones. We played with diablos at Panic Circus and I bought a T-shirt. Before they came on there was a good band called Mad Dog McRea. At 10 o' clock the Peatbog Faries came on, played their tunes. They had to stop at 11:30 though because of all the houses in Spratton.

* I wasn't sure if "stad" was the right word and I know know how I was supposed to put it into past tense. I'm sure there's loads more of mistakes, especially to do with times.

Glè mhath, a Cheitidh! Rudeigin mearachdan ged:

Chaidh mo phiuthar 's mi-fhìn - My sister and I went
Anns a' chàr - In the car
Choisich sinn dhan Feis - We walked to the Feis
Cha robh e Runrig iad fhèin ged - It wasn't Runrig themselves though
Sheinn mi còmhla riusan - I sang with them
Cha do chluich iad - They didn't play
Chluich mo phuithar 's mi fhìn còmhla ri - My sister and I played with
Choimhead sinn bho am bùth - We watched from the shop (Is that what you wanted to say?)
Leine-T dhearg - Red T-Shirt
Bha iad - They were
Thàinig na PBFs - The PBFs came
Bha iad - They were (Again... Haha)
Chluich iad - They played
Mòran taighean ann an Spratton - Many houses in Spratton

Stad iad - This is correct as you cannot lenite "st" words.

Well, although it looks like there are loads of mistakes there isn't really. Many are repeats (E.g: "Bha sinn) and the rest are to do with harder irregular verbs (It is just a case of learning them off by heart) and grammar.

You have come along way that is for sure and i am glad you had a good time! 'S toil leam na PBFs cuideachd. 'S e còmhlan math a th' annta.

Sin thu fhèin, yellow-ceitidh, and Alasdair too. :D

It's great to see you writing so much and trying things out - that's the way to make progress. There will be fewer and fewer mistakes as you learn more and 'pick up ' more en route.

One little thing you both keep doing, though, is misusing 'ged'.

'Though' in English, when stuck on at the end of a sentence, or in the middle (as I have just used it), is

ge-tà or ged-thà. (It's an adverb, if you are looking in dictionaries.)

'Ged' actually means 'although' and is only used with a following clause. (It's a conjunction.)

Rinn mi e. Bha mi sgìth, ge-tà
. I did it. I was tired, though.
Rinn mi e ged a bha mi sgìth. I did it although I was tired.

Hope that's clearer now! :D

Ahhh, tha mi a' tuigsinn a-nis!

Ged - Although
Ge-tà - Though

Sin thu fhèin, a Cheitidh! Rinn thu adhartas mòr! :moladh:
Well done! You made big progress!

Tha mi toilichte gun robh oidhche tlachdmhor agad!
I am happy you had a fun night

Now I'm going to look at correcting the corrections as well as I can ;)

Choisich sinn dhan Fheis - We walked to the Feis
Chan e Runrig fhèin a bh' annta ge-tà - It wasn't Runrig themselves though
Sheinn mi còmhla riuthasan - I sang with them
Chluich mo phiuthar 's mi fhìn còmhla ri - My sister and I played with
Choimhead sinn bhon bhùth - We watched from the shop (Is that what you wanted to say?)

Math fhèin! Chunnaic mise na Peatbog Faeries da thuras ann an Steòrnabhagh agus chòrd iad rium glan. Cha bhi iad aig Fèis Cheilteach Innse Gall am bliadhna ge-tà.

Great stuff! I saw the Peatbog Fearies twice in Stornoway and I enjoyed them very much. They won't be at the Hebridean Celtic Festival this year though.

Great work with the corrections all but I must point out how important it is that you write fèis with an accent if (as in this context) you are referring to a musical event. Feis without an accent means sexual intercourse. I remember wincing and laughing when a lecturer who used to teach me was telling the class about mugs which had FEIS BHARRAIGH (The Barra Sex Society) printed on them as opposed to FÈIS BHARRAIGH (The Barra Festival)!

Apologies for any spelling mistakes, no access to a Gaelic spellchecker on this computer and I was never that good with English anyway :priob:

Cha do iad cluich gin orain Gàidhlig oir bha iad a' Sassan. Chluich iad Pride of the Summer aus the Engine Room agus sheinn mi còmhla riuthasan.

Chluich mo phiuthar 's mi fhìn còmhla ri "Diablos" aig Panic Circus. Chaidh sinn anns a' bùthan agus cheannaich mi leine-T dhearg.

Dh'Èist sinn an comhlan "Mad Dog McCrea". Bha iad glè mhath. Dh'ith sinn "Donuts" teth agus dh'òl sinn teoclaid teth.

Mòran taing for your help and corrections. :D
@Coinneach Cìr - It's not the first time... I used to write the Isle of Bute as Eilean Bod instead of Eilean Bhòid.
