Hello all,
Just a quick question - how does one say (correctly), Happy Birthday! i.e. informal, to a close friend (female if it matters).
Is it
co-latha-breith sona dhiubh
co-là-breith sona dhiubh
Do you need the dhiubh?
Are the fadas all right?
Or is there another way entirely to say it??!!
Thanks!!

'Co-latha breith sona dhut a charaid!' - dhut for friends, children, people you know, a charaid (friend) just an optional extra

Quick question - is it "co" or "cò" ??
Also "dhut" or "dhuit" ?
Thanks!

co
cò means 'who?'
dhut is more common now, dhuit is, i believe, pre-goc
(one minute - how's that for quick service eh?)

dhuit is actually pre-pre GOC (i.e before the first spelling reform), as I learnt with SOL (which used
dhut) which was essentially pre-GOC

Tha mise a' creidsinn gur e Gaeilge "dhuit", m.e. "Día dhuit".

'S e is chan e a Sheonaidh.
Nan sealladh tu aig seann leabhar Gàidhlig chitheadh tu
dhuit.
m.e.
Gaelic Self Taught
Tha dhuit air a chleachdadh ann an
Gaeilge cuideachd.
