NEWS RELEASE

Gaelic: Where Do We Go From Here?

A group of colleagues and I would be most interested and not a little grateful, if your readers could help with the following questions.

« What do those who are endeavouring to learn to speak Gaelic and fluent Gaelic speakers, see as their ultimate objective? For example, is it simply to increase the number of Gaelic speakers registered on the next census form?

« Or is it to help build a sustainable “Gaelic Community” wherein Gaelic is the core language of everyday life in the said community?

« Are there other objectives that fluent Gaelic speakers and learners are seeking?

As I said earlier, help with answers to these questions would be of enormous help and in anticipation of your readers help, may I offer my thanks.

Gaelic: Where Do We Go From Here?
B' fheàrr leamsa àite far a bheil barrachd Gàidhlig air a chleachdadh
I'd prefer a place where more Gaelic was used

Bu toil leamsa a leithid fhaicinn le Gaidhlig ann cuideachd. Feumaidh Beurla a bhith ann cuideachd co-dhiù, airson an luch tòseachaidh.
I would like to see things like that with Gaelic on it too. There has to be English on it too though, for the beginners.
