An action plan is being drawn up by Highland Council to radically increase the number of Gaelic-medium teachers in the region.
There are currently around 90 working in primary and secondary schools in the north, but despite the local authority lobbying to increase the numbers and being instrumental in starting a distance-learning teacher qualification with Aberdeen University, there remains a substantial staff shortfall.
