Dè na gnathasan-cainnt is fheàrr leibh?
Tha mi air a bhith a leantainn a fòram seo airson beagan mhìosan ach cha do sgrìobh mi sgath air chun an seo. Tha Gàidhlig air a bhith agam on a bha mi beag, is cha do dh’ionnsaich mi Beurla gus a deach mi dhan a sgoile ach a-nise tha mo chuid Ghàidhlig air fàs gu math lapach. Tha mi an de ‘s uidh a ghabhail ann an gnàthasan-cainnt gu ta agus tha mi smaointinn gu bheil sin a dèanamh feum dhòmh. Bha mi airson faighinn a-mach dè an fheadhainn a tha còrdadh ribh pèin? ‘S toigh leamsa feadhainn mar;
Bidh nàdar a choin gu mòr ‘s a chuilean.
Cha tig ugh mòr a nead an dreathain.
Cho sgìth ri cù.
Is fheàrr an t-olc chluinntinn na fhaicinn.
Is tric a thàinig comhairle glic a ceann amadan.
Tha math, tha math dhut agus tha math tric.

Cho sgìth ri cù.

Tha math, tha math dhut agus tha math tric.

Tha leabhar agam, Gnathasan Cainnte le Duncan MacDonald, a bha maighstir-sgoile air Sgoil Shanndabhaig (faisg air Steòrnabhagh). Chaidh an leabhar ga fhoillseachadh ann 1932. Tha ceudan gnathasan cainnte ann agus bhe e a gearain anns a ro-radh mu dheidhinn gnathasan cainnte Beurla a tighinn ga cleachdadh, agus air sin, chuir e an leabhar le chéile. Seo cuid -
LETH
Leth choma, somewhat indifferent or half-hearted,
Air leth glic, exceptionally wise.
Air leth làmh, one-handed.
A' dol ás mo leth, taking my part.
A' fuireach air leth, living apart.
Ceud gu leth, one hundred and fifty.
As a leth uair, in no uncertain manner.
Cuir leth riut e, put it next your skin.
TARRUING
A' tarruing as, teasing him.
A' tarruing buairidh, causing dispeace, or, inciting a quarrel.
An simileir a' tarruing, the chimney venting.
An do tharruing an tea ? Has the tea infused ?
A' tarruing na h-acrach, dragging the anchor.
A' tarruing dhaoine, attracting people.
Thug mi tarruing air, I pulled it, or, I attempted it.
A' tarruing na h-eathrach, hauling the boat.
Tarruing brògan domh, order boots for me.
A' tarruing an àrbhair, carrying home the corn.
Tha an latha a' tarruing air, the day shows signs of a coming storm.
DUBH
Is dubh dhasan, he'll get his blessings, or, he'll have the deuce to-pay.
Dubh-fhacal, a riddle.
Sgoil-dubh, magic or black art.
Dùbh-ghràin, disgust.
Do latha-dubh, your ruin.
A dhubh no a gheal, either dead or alive, or, any trace of him.
Bho mhoch gu dubh, from morn till night.
BUILLE
Buille sùla, a glimpse.
A h-uile buille, every whit.
Air a bhuille-trot, in spite of him.
A bhuille a thàinig air, the catastrophe that befell him
Buille cridhe, heart-beat.
Buille le ràmh, a rowing stroke.
BARR
Barr mo mheòir, the tip of my finger.
Barr na slaite, the point of the rod.
Barr a' bhalla, the top of the wall.
A bheir barr air, that excels him.
Barr na tàlmhainn, crops or produce.
Barr air bainne, cream.
SLAN
Slàn ann an corp, healthy in body.
Slàn ann an inntinn, sound in mind.
Thoir slàn domh e, give it to me intact.
Slàn leat ! Good-bye!
Shlànaich an lot, the wound has healed.
Bha seòl slàn rithe, she was under full sail.
BUN
Bun na h-aibhne, the mouth of the river.
Aig bun-sgòtha, on the horizon.
'Gam buain ás am bun, pulling them by the roots.
Bun-obair, futile effort.
Is e bun na bha ann, the outcome of it was.
Am bun na h-oibre, attending to the work.
A bheil sibh ag iarraidh tuilleadh bho àm gu àm no am biodh sin cus ?

Mu dheidhinn copyright (sa Bheurla, duilich)
http://wapedia.mobi/en/Directive_on_har ... protection1. Duration of protection
The principal goal was to ensure that there was a single duration for copyright and related rights across the entire European Union. The chosen term was 70 years from the death of the author (post mortem auctoris, pma) for authors' rights (Art. 1), longer than the 50 year post mortem auctoris term required by the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works (Art. 7.1 Berne Convention). The directive notes that the original goal of the Berne Convention was to protect works for two generations after the death of the author, and that fifty years was no longer sufficient for this purpose (para. 5 of the preamble). It is often stated that 70 years pma was the longest copyright term of any Member State at the time: this is not strictly correct, [2] and is not quoted as the reason for the choice in the directive. Where a Member State protected a work for a longer period at the time the directive came into force, the copyright term is not reduced [Art. 10(1)], but other Member States will not respect the longer period.
The duration of protection of related rights (those of performers, phonogram and film producers and broadcasting organisations) was set at fifty years with the following rules for calculating the starting date (Art. 3). This fifty year period was in reflexion of the negotiating position of the European Community at the negotiations which led to the Marrakech Agreements, including the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright# ... stic_WorksCopyright subsists for a variety of lengths in different jurisdictions. The length of the term can depend on several factors, including the type of work (e.g. musical composition, novel), whether the work has been published or not, and whether the work was created by an individual or a corporation. In most of the world, the default length of copyright is the life of the author plus either 50 or 70 years. In the United States, the term for most existing works is a fixed number of years after the date of creation or publication. In some countries (for example, the United States[21] and the United Kingdom[22]), copyrights expire at the end of the calendar year in question.
The length and requirements for copyright duration are subject to change by legislation, and since the early 20th century there have been a number of adjustments made in various countries, which can make determining the duration of a given copyright somewhat difficult. For example, the United States used to require copyrights to be renewed after 28 years to stay in force, and formerly required a copyright notice upon first publication to gain coverage. In Italy and France, there were post-wartime extensions that could increase the term by approximately 6 years in Italy and up to about 14 in France. Many countries have extended the length of their copyright terms (sometimes retroactively). International treaties establish minimum terms for copyrights, but individual countries may enforce longer terms than those.
