Unison Highland join the 'I'm not against Gaelic but' Brigade:
'THE local government union Unison is calling for a halt to the introduction of bilingual road signs and street name-plates in the Highlands because the policy is wasting scarce resources at a time when jobs are under threat.
The union wants Highland Council to carry out a wider-ranging consultation on the controversial issue and to exclude areas where there is no proven demand for Gaelic names.'

How much would a consultation cost? Does anyone know the Unison policy on signs in Wales or bilingualism in general (native UK languages or those of migrant workers)?

Uill, tha mi air post-d a chur gu Unison ma dheidhinn. Dè arsa - "Every pound spent on bigger signs is a pound less for potholes" no rudeigin mar sin. Ach bidh barrachd luchd-turais ann nuair a bhios sanasan 2-chànanach ann - bidh sin glè mhath airson eaconomaidh na Gaidhealtachd agus nì sin barrachd airgid airson Comhairle na Gaidhealtachd.
