Thanks so much for that. I have a further question if that is ok.
I understand that Cha dìochuimhnich mi a-chaoidh means 'i will never forget him'......i think i understand that dìochuimhnich means forget and that chaoidh means never. Which part refers to the masculine subject? So how would I change the phrase to say just 'I will never forget'?

Traditionally, the future negative (Cha/chan) doesn't lenite the 'dts' group.
Think of 'cha' as 'chan', with the final 'n' blocking lenition of these consonants.
Cha dèan...
Cha tig...
Cha seas...
With f+noun, you get Chan fh..: chan fhàg...
BUT
as TAIC says, there is a tendency to lenite anything and everything now, so will find cha dh/sh/th).
