Halò! 'S mise Leòmhann. Ciamar a tha sibh?
Hello! I'm Leòmhann. How are you?
I don't know much more Gàidhlig than that at the moment, which is why I joined this forum. It's my hope to become as fluent as possible with everyone here.

Tha mi gu math cuideachd, tapadh leat. Cò às a tha thu?
I'm well too, thank you. Where are you from?
I don't know any Gàidhlig place names so you may have to give the English version as well. If not I can google it.

Tha mi às a' Stàitean Aonaichte. Tha Gearmailteach agaibh?
I'm from the United States. Do you speak German?
(P.S. I am using an online dictionary to help me out with some things.)

às na Stàitean Aonaichte, because it's plural
a' Ghearmailt = country
an Gearmailteach = person
a' Ghearmailtis = language
Tha, tha a' Ghearmailtis agam. A bheil cànan sam bith eile agad fhèin?
Yes, I do speak German. Do you speak any other language yourself?

Falo, ach meirgeach sna làithean seo
I do, but rusty these days.
You now have an advantage in learning Gaelic over English speakers: For learning yes/no, think falo/não falo rather than sim/não.

A palavra para 'sim' não é 'tha'?
The word for 'yes' isn't 'tha'?

No, you repeat the verb in positive or negative form, including the tense. Just like in Portugese.
So, it's "tha" only if the quesion started with "a bheil" or "nach eil"
