Nam beachdsa s'e sp(ay)clairean a th'ann- air a char as lugha bithidh a h-uile duine aig a bheil Gàidhlig an seo ga radh mar sin.* Cò dhiugh air'sgath's gu bheil cho mòran blàsan ann faodaidh gu bheil doigh eile ann cuideachd. Cha b'urrainn dhomhsa a bhith cinnteach idir mu rudan mar sin. :?

Ann am Beurla nach canar e mar "spectacles" ann àite "spiactacles"?

*Rinn sinn oidhirp air Na Speuclairean Dubha a leughadh agus bhiodh fiu's an tidsear ga fhuaimneachadh mar sin.

Tha Robert Owen ( The Modern Gaelic-English Dictionary) ag radh "speuclairean = speeaklaran", mar beulaibh - beealiv, sgeul - skeeal.

Am faod mi faighneach ceist eile fhèin ?

Ciamar a canar "leòmhann" ?

Ruidigin coltach "lovan" no "lowan" :?:

Tha mi a' rannsachadh ainmean-peann. (airson sgriobhadair na leabhar)

'S e ainm "Leonard" a tha ann m' athair.

Tha mi a' smaoineachadh mu "Ian Maclovan" no "Ian Maclowan".

Tha sibh ceart, gu dearbh.

Ach, tha mi ag iarraidh anglicized version airson nom de plume :priob:

Chan eil mi ag iarraidh ainm-real orm a dheanamh.

Tha mòran le ainm orm (including a US congressman and a famous Scottish artist!), agus 's toil leam privacy.
