Deagh naidheachd.

Second school set to replace English with Gaelic as classroom language

.....It is right when Gaelic is the predominant language at a school that it is designated to reflect that."

The change would mirror the situation in Sleat, in the south of Skye, which in 2006 was the first Scottish school to teach in Gaelic with an English-medium unit.

The move is supported by both Gaelic and English-speaking parents in Staffin, which earlier this month was named Gaelic Community of the Year by the development agency Comunn na Gàidhlig......
Mar as àbhaist, beachdan eadar-dhealaichte ach inntinneach gu h-ìosal.

Gaidhlug gu brath!

That´s excellent news, that´ll be 2 Gaelic (first language) Schools in Skye now. I´m quite surprised at the lack of venom from the anti-Gael brigade who frequent An t-albanach´s webpage whenever something positive is written about the language.

Onwards and Upwards. Does anyone know what School will be next? Or, if there is another School planned for Scotland in 2011 or 2012?

Gabh mo leisguel a´sgirobh ann am beurla..

I have it on Good Authority that next is the Lycée Française ann an Lunnainn...

Seriously, though, a Chaomhin (is càch), You gie your place as "Angus" and claim a high degree of ignorance of Gaelic. Much the same would go for the folk where I stay - Fife. And there's no one school here as even does Gaelic as a second language (like French, German, Spanish or Latin, all of which are available in Fife) - and I imagine the same is true of Angus. There's a need for this - as well as first-language Gaelic schools in areas where natural Gaelic is found. Just think on all the Gaelic you'd know if you'd had it at school in place of, e.g., French or whatever.
