Celtic Spice:
Tricky topic, 'need' and 'must' etc!
'dìth' = lack, deficit, something missing, rather than need in the sense of obligation/requirement, which is usually expressed with one of the 'feum' constructions (verb or noun).
a dhìth orm = lacking to me
I need / lack money > tha airgead a dhìth orm / tha dìth airgid orm (sin a dhèanamh/gus sin a dhèanamh / airson sin a dhèanamh).
I lack Gaelic > tha Gàidhlig a dhìth orm / tha dìth Gàidhlig orm.
Feumaidh mi Gàidhlig ionnsachadh = I must / I need to learn G.
Feumaidh Gàidhlig nas fheàrr a bhith agam (gus sin a dhèanamh)- I must /need to have better G. (in order to do that)
OR Tha feum agam air Gàidhlig nas fheàrr (gus sin a dhèanamh) - I have need of better G. (in order to do that)
A Chaoimhin:
Coimhead usually takes 'air' after it (c.f. 'looking at')
> Choimhead mi air ....cha do choimhead mi air an fhilm roimhe (before).
gu math èibhinn - quite / fairly / pretty funny.
gu lèir = 'quite' only in the sense of 'completely'
a
m film gu lèir - the complete film, the whole film.
