...after the beep?

Unread post by faoileag » Mon Sep 09, 2013 8:59 pm

I have a new phone and want to have a bilingual message on the mailbox.

How do I best express 'beep' in Gaelic?

Nach leig sibh fios/brath thugam as dèidh.... ?

Something more specific than 'fuaim', and preferably not using 'seirm', as that is the ringing itself.

AFB has 'bìd'. Dè mu dheidhinn sin?

bìd /biːdʲ/ Listen
fir. gin. -e, iol. -ean
1 cheep, chirp 2 beep 3 bite

or 'migead'?

migead /migʲəd/
fir. gin. -eid, iol. -an
1 peep, tiny sound 2 bleat

or suaim (Dwelly)?

suaim
** sf Sound, tone, note, accent.

Nach leig sibh fios thugam dè ur beachd? :priob:

Tapadh leat!

Nì sin an gnothaich gus am faigh mi a-mach dè tha aig na fònaichean SMO / BnaG / CnaG amsaa.. :spors:

Beagan nas anmoiche...

Chan eil teachdaireachd sam bith aig na fònaichean BnaG is CnaG, ach seirm gun chrìoch, agus chan eil ach teachdaireachd àbhaisteach BT (no companaidh eile) aig SMO le ainm na roinn sa Ghàidhlig. :(

'S dòcha san fharsaingeachd nach bi daoine a' fònadh BnaG no CnaG gu tric agus mar sin chan fhiach dhaibh teachdaireachd "beep" a chleachdadh.

"Haidh! Seo Bòrd na Gàidhlig, dachaigh a h-uile nì Gàidhlig san t-saoghal. Tha sinn duilich ach tha sinn a-muigh an-dràsta, air ar cleòcaichean "Supair-Gàidheal" a chur umainn. Nach leig sibh teachdaireachd air ar son-ne an-dèidh a' bhid agus gheibh sinn air ais thugaibh sa bhad. Seasàm!"

Rudeigin mar sin?

Seo seadh eile a th' air a' ghnìomhair "bìogail"...beagan coltach ri "dìosgail"

Bhon òran "Ged a sheòl mi air m'aineoil"
Gur ann orm-sa bha'n t-eagal
Bha na breasan a'bìogail.
Beurla:
It was terrifying
To hear the timbers creaking.
Tha an seinneadair a' dìreadh crann air bàta ann an droch shìde.
Dèan buil cheart de na fhuair thu!

na breasan a' bìogail
Inntinneach ... lorg mi an tionndadh seo dhen òran an-seo - litreachadh sgriosail ach tha am facal breasan inntinneach air leth, chan eil sgeul air ann am faclair sam bith leis a' chiall seo.... hm
