All sorted now ... I hope. 
Someone has got my password off an insecure computer, because this one was switched off when the message sent, and it's practically the only one I use now. So I've a. changed passwords and b. resigned up using GMail, because I now have no trust in Microshaft's spam filter. My Dad did a virus scan too.

(I notice the Google group are having trouble recently too.)
