How do I say East, West and Elite Scotland....????

Unread post by MhairiM »

i everyone, I wonder if anyone can help me tr*nsl*t* ‘East, West and Elite Scotland’ into Gaelic…..? With my very limited knowledge I’ve come up with something along the lines of Alba an ear, an ear agus ……. (no idea what elite would be!). Or I’m not sure if it would be the East, West, Elite with na h-Alba at the end…. Any help is much appreciated. Tapadh leibh.

Hello Seonaidh, thank you very much for your reply. I’m afraid I have very limited Gaelic, but I think I’ve worked out that basically you can’t understand what I’m trying to say in English!! When I look at my post, it’s come out funny with stars (*****) in it! I am trying to work out how to say – ‘East, West and Elite Scotland’ in Gaelic. Any help is much appreciated. Moran taing.

No, what he is saying is that he can't work out what it really means. What exactly is "Elite Scotland" in comparison to "west and East"?

Chan eil dad a fhios 'm idir...

East, West and Elite Scotland

Ah, yes, right, I understand – my apologies, I don’t think I was making myself very clear (what chance have I got if I can’t even communicate in English!). Essentially, I am trying to get the tr*nsl*t**n for both ‘East of Scotland Elite Club’ and ‘West of Scotland Elite Club’. A friend of mine runs children’s gymnastics and would like to name both her clubs with a Gaelic name. Thanks so much for your help.

If it's for professional use, I'd strongly recommend consulting a professional tr*nsl*t*r. She'll need to be prepared to have a compromise on the name, cos "élite" is a bit of a funny word in English.

Here's the pros I currently know of on-line.

Could be the sort of thing Cnag might help with they can help fund bilingual signs etc sometimes.
