I got a letter from SMO today saying i had been accepted and i can start when i make the grades (1 Higher, which i have) and i go for an interview.
I was wondering of anyone knew what the interview is like? A few of my friends there say it is like "Where you from? How are you? Why Gaelic? What you doing after?". Is this true? I had an unofficial interview and i managed it fine - Was rather simple. Got a bit stuck with why i chose Gaelic as i wasn't good with past tense. I wanted to ask questions in Gaelic but he was going to fast for me to squeeze them in.
dhomhsa bha e gu math furasta - bha mi dìreach nam shuidhe agus murchadh a' bruidhinn. cha do rinn mise ach nod mo cheann agus can "seadh, tha mi a' tuigsinn."
's e deagh judge-of-character a th' ann, 's bidh e furasta dhutsa, air sgàth 's gu bheil thu measail air a' ghàidhlig agus chì esan sin.
na gabh dragh, a charaid
congrats
it was very easy for me - i just sat there and he spoke. i nodded and said "seadh, tha mi a' tuigsinn"
he is a good judge of character and it will be easy for you because you are clearly dedicated and he will see that
Deagh naidheachd gu dearbh. Meal do naidheachd bhuam cuideachd Alasdair.
Bidh mise a' dèanamh a' Cùrsa Adhartais. 'S e cùrsa SMO air astar a th'ann. Mar sin, rinn mi an agallamh agam air a' fòn. Rinn sinn còmhradh beag air Muile, na daoine a bha e eòlach air ann am Muile agus ciamar a bha mi air Gàidhlig ionnsachadh.
Good news indeed. Congratulations from me too Alasdair.
I'm doing an Cùrsa Adhartis. It's a SMO distance learning course. Therefore I did my interview on the phone. We had a wee chat about Mull, the people he knew on Mull and how I had learned Gaelic.
Deagh naidheachd gun teagamh!! Rinn mise agallamh aig an t-Sabhail (chan ann air a fòn) agus bha e furasta gu leòr. Cuimhniche ma bhios tu airson bruidhinn air Skype uair sam bith b' urrainn dhuinn seisean a chur air dòigh gus am faigh thu cothrom do chuid Gàidhlig a chur gu feum.
Good news for sure!! I did an interview at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig (not on the phone) and it was easy enough. Remember if you want to speak on Skype anytime we could arrange a session so you can get a chance to put your Gaelic skills to good use.
