Can someone please, please explain to me what "mura" means? It pops up everywhere in Gàidhlig texts. Yet I can't find it in my study material and I don't think I'm undestanding it properly from reading in context :naire:

It means 'if not'.

You also see the form 'mur', meaning the same.
It's the negative of 'ma'=if.

Cha tèid mise mura bheil thusa air a shon (OR ...mur eil, OR... mura h-eil)_ I won't go if you are not in favour of it.
