Scotland is open for business....
Or rather Scotland is open for businesses to walk up and screw us for every penny they can get.

tha mise a' faireachdainn gu bheil sibh uile caran short-sighted mu dheidhinn seo a chairdean? Carson nach fhaod seo a bhith math airson Alba, fius an ceann tuath an ear? nach toir e airgead a-staigh dhan a sgire? dreuchdan? of course ni e airgead airson trump fhein ach gu cinnteach ni e barrachd feum airson an sgire na tha sibh a' smaoineachadh...?

There was a planning process. They advised minor changes, clarifications and a reapplication. This is the normal process. He went off in a huff and the government fell on their knees.
Had he reapplied, he would in all probability have succeeded. (Because the chairman would have been ousted from the committee beforehand.)
But he's so self-important that he figured he wouldn't bother. He blackmailed us with a lot of money that might not ever materialise.
Furthermore, tourism is not an industry. Industry can adapt and retool. Whereas a DVD player factory can make flatscreen TVs with additional investment, a golf course cannot be reinvented as a ski slope or a tropical paradise. And golf is suffering a slump right now.

Agus a bharrachd air sin
'Mr Sorial's comments came as it emerged that Mr Trump is embroiled in a court case over the funding of his Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago.
Mr Trump, who is due to visit Scotland in two weeks to meet his Scottish development team, has recently filed a suit against a group of lenders – led by Deutsche Bank – on the 92-storey project, in an attempt to extend his $640 million (£430 million) construction loan.
The case has raised questions in the US as to whether the high-profile real-estate tycoon has been hard-hit by the property downturn.'

Tha Trump a' cumail a-mach gu bheil airgead gu leòr aige ge-tà ach 's ann mar sin a tha e leis a h-uile neach-leasachaidh sna laithean seo leis an staing eaconomach - cha bhiodh fear aca ag ràdh gu robh iad briste, nach biodh? - an tèid Trupmton Siorrachd Obar Dheathainn a dhèanamh?
