Gaelic Speakers in Dundee/Angus}

Unread post by Caoimhin.MacGilliosa »

Feasgar math a-huile daoine,

Hiya,

Does anyone know if there's such a thing as a 'Gaelic meet up' or such, in Dundee, or near Dundee or Tayside area?

I'm a beginner, Intermediate Beginner, but my spelling is quite bad, but I've heard of classes in Glasgow where people all meet up and have a beer or two, and speak Gaelic, everyone of abilities. It would be interesting if something like this is available near me?

Tapadh leibh an-dràsda.

Maybe something will turn up on this page in the future:

Thug mi sùil air làrach-lìn an oilthigh a' feuchainn am bi fios acasan ach chan eil iad a' teagasg ach Gearmailtis, Fraingis is Spàinnis.

Have you asked the Tayside Language Centre? If I'm not mistaken, the TLC was a spin-off of a local FE college Lifelong Education department -- when the council cut the departmental funding the teachers just got together and started up again on their own.

They don't seem to have regular Gaelic conversation groups at the moment, but I know they've had conversation days in the past, and the might be holding a list of "interested parties" that you could get your name on.

Dùn Dè? Tha cuimhne agam air "Glasgow's miles better" - agus smaoininnsa gum biodh sin comasach airson Dùn Dè nuair a nì thu coimeas le Rìoghachd Fìobha, mun Ghàidhlig. Ma lorgas tu càil, cur fios.

If ye find owt Dundee way, let us know! There's nowt in Fife!

Tapadh leibh a-huile daoine,

My Gaelic is pretty basic, as you may tell, but cheers for the links folks. I've fired of a e-mail to Tayside Language Centre. Will keep you posted, Seonaidh on any luck, or not.
